How does unit detection work?

We compare the magnitude of the number to typical Unix epoch ranges: < 1e11 = seconds, < 1e14 = milliseconds, < 1e17 = microseconds, larger = nanoseconds.

Which timezone is the local time shown in?

The browser's reported timezone via Intl.DateTimeFormat. Use the ISO output for a stable, timezone-free representation.
